Tororo Cement started operations in 1996 after divesture and barely seven years later started Community development involvement. In year 2003 before the company stabilized its operations, we sponsored one Byamugisha Francis for a heart surgery abroad among other two activities that year. We have now done quite a lot. This is an indication that we placed community development among our priorities.

Policy for CSR:

The company plans and assists the community and stakeholders through a well defined Long term POLICY, and short term goals/targets.

Currently the Company has a policy leaning towards the community particularly towards the Education and Health sector.

TASO, Tororo organized a run for the cause; Raising funds to support children affected by HIV accessing care services on Saturday, 11th November 2023. Tororo Cement Limited supported the cause and our employees participated in the run.

As part of Social Corporate Responsibility, Tororo Cement handed over to government of the 200 million shillings fully furnished building constructed to serve as Osukuru Police Station in the newly created Osukuru Town Council, Tororo District.

Tororo Cement Limited donated UGX 100m towards the construction of the Joshua Cheptegei Training Center in Kapchorwa district.

Tororo Cement Providing Food to Covid Patients under its CSR Program

In the month of June, 2021. TCL participated in the Tororo Municipal Council solid waste cleaning exercise by providing logistic support which included trucks and fuel.

Appreciation Letter From TMC

Tororo Cement constructed a classroom block, a kitchen and renovation of the school in Moroto Karamoja worth a total of UGX 336,102,307/= among other CSR activities in the region. We as well pay tuition for some students in higher tertiary education annually. The sole purpose of Tororo Cement CSR activities in the region in education and healthcare is to empower the community.

Tororo Cement offered 44 biogas plants in 4 sub county in Tororo District worth UGX 70,000,000/= for the purpose of protecting environment. The district is one of those with less forest cover due to deforestation particularly for firewood. Biogas is an alternative to firewood, and is used for cooking and light. The by-product is used as fertilizer.

COVID-19 contribution amounted to UGX 245,110,000/= UGX 200,000,000/= of which was a contribution to the National Taskforce, 6 tons of posho, 1.4 tons of beans 100 litres of diesel to Tororo District Taskforce and also contributed posho and beans to Moroto and Kapchorwa all valued at about at about UGX 45,110,000/=.

Construction of a roundabout about five kilometres on Malaba – Jinja Road; Due to heavy traffic including trucks, road accidents become common and a roundabout was found to be the only solution. Tororo Cement contributed UGX 3,500,000,000/= (3.5 billion Shillings)

Tororo Cement owns over 250 acres of banana plantation which is used for feeding school children. Providing lunch to school children has reduced absenteeism in schools and stabilized the study system

Tororo Cement contributed tools worth about UGX 2,000,000/= and physical labour in the cleanliness of Malaba towns under our healthcare (hygiene) program.

Churches in Amudat and in Kasori & Moroto. Two churches were constricted in both Kasori and Moroto valued at about UGX 390,000,000/=.The purpose is for spiritual growth which is associated with social discipline in communities.

Construction of school classroom blocks in Kapchorwa district and renovation of UCI Primary school (Tororo) both valued at about UGX 306,000,000/=

Purpose is to facilitate education for empowerment of the young generation.

Tree plantations in Tororo Golf course, UCC and Tororo Town

The tree planting was intended for environment improvement and a contribution to forest cover.

Medical health centre In Osukuru sub county- Tororo, operating Mobile medical van in Moroto district, provided an Ambulance, Motor Cycle to Tapach sub county- Moroto.

This was done under TCL Health programme to have a health community so that they can ably contribute to the area development

Currently TCL is constructing a boundary wall at Kosoroi Secondary School in Katikakile, Moroto.

So our CSR program is continuous.
